I did not like season 5 with all the time travel BS, and liked season 6 even less. Let's see how season 7 wraps up the series.

Ohh it's gonna be a time hopping season? They're in the 1950s now.

Quite clear that they're basically copying endgame to end the series. Not the first time the show has tried to reference/copy/parallel the movies.

And so far I might like it surprisingly enough.

@me when you've finished since i wanna see if it's worth picking up again. i managed to finish season 5 which ended alright iirc but had little interest in going back for season 6 and onwards if they were just gonna keep going on and on and knowing that it ends might make me finish the whole thing.

I dunno man, I mean I watched it because I've gotten invested in the characters despite how bad the story had gotten, so I'm gonna finish it up. But I don't know what to tell you, I can't wholeheartedly recommend season 6 because it's such a filler season and waste of time.

Yes, the only reason they were to get out of the whole mess they were in is through fitz hiding and supporting them from the shadows. If the chronicoms knew his location, he would be...in trouble.

Thought this show already ended, tbh.

I think I got like 2 episodes into season 6 before giving up. I was hoping to see how they dealt with the aftermath of Infinity War, but they just...didn't? Like they now exist in an alternate timeline or smthng, because the writers weren't told about IW and had no way of writing ahead to accommodate it? I dunno. I kinda lost interest then.

Just finished watching the finale.

It's got payoff.

Like if you've got heart for the characters, it's good payoff.

Only thing to say for anyone's expectations, a very minor spoiler: don't expect anyone from the films. This last season is about the characters of the TV show and their fates.

On episode 8. Huh so they're going back to inhumans and afterlife/jiaying now. Well that was the series high point, the potential story of inhumans before they kind of beat it with a dead horse in season 3

according to the wiki, just a few years. he lived from ~1918 - 1955, she 1988 - 2019. though with all the time shenanigans, it's hard to know just quite how old anyone really is.

Well... that was an alright finale. I guess all's well that ends well? Better than a downer ending if nothing else.

I have to say, I'm more than a little annoyed at the bait and switch they did with Fitz. I was dreading them revealing that he was either dead or dying from radiation/poison from the time stream/other chronicom devices, but he was just fine and pulling an Antman with the suit and everything? What was all that stuff with blood tests and whatnot, was it just a reference to Simmons being pregnant? You don't need a blood test for that after all... But boy them following the infinity war movie procedure is so on the nose.

Why was he even missing from this season? I checked his filmography and it didn't seem like he was starring in anything else or shooting some other movie.

Glad they at least got to do a sendoff. For me it never quite reached the height of syncing up with the release of The Winter Soldier

I'm surprised that other post is still wondering why the show didn't reference the movies, I think caring about that is long since a moot point. Hell at some point in the later seasons when they still do try to reference the movies like Thanos and whatnot, it's so cringe and and forced they may as well not have.

I learned to appreciate AoS as its own thing and live with the fact that we'll never really get this huge universe of movies and shows all connected to each other for one grand finale or leading up to an epic crossover storyline

The only thing that bugs me is that they couldn't really reconcile the events of Infinity War. That's not a knock against the showrunners specifically. It's just... unfortunate.

I don't think so, I don't even know where that came from but I guess it's not impossible for Jiaying to have had a previous daughter if not several children considering her long life, and it would make sense that losing her combined with being captured and tortured by Whitehall hardened her. I really liked seeing her as a better person since I always felt super sad for her and hated that she turned evil/tried to kill Daisy

For me, I think the highpoint of the series is easily season 2. That whole plot, the way they introduced inhumans (which was completely new to me) as well as Skye's parents, it just really got me hooked. I remember being more on the edge of my seat and entertained by AoS season 2 finale than Avengers 2! That was the first and last time it happened (although season 4's format with the 3 arcs was really good and I'm glad season 7 did something similar, even if I wasn't particularly a fan of most of it)

Ah okay. That would explain his death in season 5 which really angered me and then confused me when they decided they'd just get "the other Fitz" who was frozen in time. Convenient way to not have a Fitz that still had Leopold demons and did surgery/violate Daisy...

That's the whole point though. I think I kinda knew that's what they were going with, not a dramatic "someone will die/world will be destroyed" but rather just a "people grow apart" thing, no matter how close they once were, and honestly it happens in life all the time.

I did end up coming around on Enoch but I've never liked Deke, he's just a reminder of the season I started to dislike the show and he's rather annoying to boot so didn't see it as much of a loss. I never really considered them part of the main gang, just really long extended guests. Mack and Yo-yo weren't part of the original team but they earned their place more or less

That Fitz still has Leopold in him though as he went through the Framework.

S4 is pretty easily the highlight of the show with the Ghost Rider into LMD into Framework combo. S7 has been a pretty close second. S1 is easily the worst of the show but even that's been made better retroactively when you go back and watch it with knowledge of where things go.

I've never understood the hate for S5 tbh. The first half with the space station stuff is kind of slow, but the Graviton stuff in the back half is top fucking notch.

Solid series finale, but I'll admit that the S5 finale would have ended things on a much higher note. Well, quality wise anyway. Coulson dying isn't a massively high note.

When you stop and think about seasons 1 through 7 as a continuous adventure for the team (without the obvious between-season breaks as we experienced), you have to feel sorry for them. They were just taken from one crisis to the next with no real break (aside from that one scene at the diner at the end of Season 4, or May and Coulson at the end of Season 5).

Anyone else would have constant mental breakdowns from all that consistent trauma. Thinking it that way, the Season 7 finale feels so much more satisfying to see the team finally get their well-earned breaks if they want them or move in to more enjoyable activities. I am glad that they did not rush through the "where are they now" part like just about every show does. Or worst, leave it as an open, ambiguous ending (looking at you Chuck).
