I mean, we have an old franchise that doesn't have near the hype it used to, being given a large budget but NOT being about the title hero, and being written and directed solely by the creator of the character who has zero experience writing or directing movies. It could be good, but those ingredients all spell bomb.

No, because even if Spawn bombs there have been other less-than-stellar comic movie releases. As long as the MCU continues to churn out hits, this particular genre will be pretty robust to one-off movies failing.

if there are any comic book movies sucking that should have hurt the industry, it should have been BvS and Justice League, which featured some of the most iconic comic book characters ever
