Not sure about the rules on this topic. But let's just say that I could use some tips. There is this 'person I know' that has been smoking weed for about 14 years straight, pretty much daily and multiple times a day. It's really expensive, and it turns him into a total pussy, and he's tired of it. But the cravings are so tough to ignore.

Any advice would be most welcome.

If you can make it past the first three days you are golden. Nicotine takes more like a week or two, so it's not nearly as bad of a wait.

Literally no secret to it, just stop buying it. I smoked for 13 years and I quit overnight.

You gotta change your routine and the things you do. Because when you're doing the same exact shit, all you think about is how it's different without weed. He's lucky he's not addicted to something with physical withdrawals. And don't cone at me with that "It does have physical withdrawals" bullshit. Cause literally anything can have physical withdrawals if your brain functions that way, and you don't know what a real physical withdrawal is.

I also need to quit smoking tho. Or at least during everything. I have major memory and comprehension problems and it doesn't help. My friends here might not think I'm that bad. But they don't realize I have to read posts like 3-4 times while I'm responding to them, if Im making a serious response. And sometimes I still miss the mark.

But, it's a blessing in disguise when smoking weed is your biggest problem. I've been down a lot worse roads.

Seriously man the best answer is to keep yourself busy. Sitting around doing nothing will make you wanna smoke weed constantly. Go for a walk or take a drive, anything that will keep your mind occupied.

I quit because I used to remember everything, but my recall had deteriorated to an unacceptable level. It comes back tho, but I have to practice a lot now whereas before I never even had to try.

Whatever your triggers are for wanting to smoke - if possible, remove these from your life or just mentally deal with how that trigger has to be a non starter now.

But the people saying "just don't smoke" aren't really much more help tbf. Ya'll don't know what an addictive personality feels like. It doesn't have to actually be addictive in the main sense. And maybe you do and it just doesn't translate to weed. If that's the case, think of something you haven't lived without for 14 years and imagine just taking it out your life and never looking back. Maybe it's a cup of coffee in the morning. This is beyond weed, it's a personality trait. Because weed doesn't have the addictive properties that other drugs have, super including alcohol.

Yeah. I look like a complete idiot most the time I'm trying to recall something. To blame only the weed would be unfair. But I feel like that's a good place to start for me. I know people who work mentally demanding jobs that smoke daily. I'm just not that guy.

Considering there arent physical withdrawals, advocating for going cold turkey is legitimate. Obviously the psychological part has to be dealt with regardless. Not sure what else youre trying to get at here.

Just that offering no advice for the obvious isn't really helping anyone. It's also not hurting anybody, so I get your reason for calling it out.

But I think me and some others hit the nail on the head with doing stuff that doesn't make you think of weed. Even if it's something simple like just watching different shows. That's what I do when I gotta quit for a drug test....which Im now realizing I'm suppose to be doing that starting today. Good thing I hadn't smoked yet. See, this is that forgetful shit I was talking about.

As for tips Lost is right. Need to change more than just not doing it

Also just gotta get to the point where you can't stomach the thought of doing it anymore and want to quit really badly

I've had to quit every 3 months for the last like 5 years. That's why Im so posthappy in this topic. If anyone has experience with this, it's me >_>. Like I just said, coincidentally, I literally have to quit again today. And this time it's after 6 months, since I didn't have to go in due to Covid. This appointment might be over the phone too, but like I said, I need to at the least take a break anyway. This is a good excuse to. I don't need the anxiety of wondering if they're gonna actually have me come in to drop for my meds.

I've always smoked right before walking put the door to walk somewhere. But I never really seen it as something connected to weed. Probably cause that's my main mode of transportation tho. I definitely think it enhances all outdoor activities tho. Weed and outdoors is a beautiful combination.

I quit yesterday no joke. I barely smoke though so it's easy. I took a 5 year break then did it again for about 2 years. Quarter ounce lasts me usually 2 months. So I was spending $25-35 a month on it.

I'll probably wait a year and get back into it. Mostly would smoke 1 thin joint after work. The relaxing feeling was nice but I don't need it.

If you can do it cold turkey it's best. It's legal here in Canada but I barely drink alcohol too so quitting is easy.
