I'm sure plenty of people on this board will end up getting it, but...sign of the times, mang. A lot of people don't care about buying physical versions anymore. And now there's a console released that will enable those people.

I love being purely digital on my switch.

For a system that isn't portable though, I might still prefer to buy physical copies.

With ps now and ps plus my physical game library is shrinking. I absolutely will go all digital if there's a low monthly cost to be able to game like y'all do on gamepass.

The only physical games i've bought in the last 10 years have been nintendo ones, and I feel burned by having to deal with taking care of them.

what about situations like how Nintendo permanently shut down the eShop for Wii and DS content? things you legit purchased through that storefront are permanently gone, you cannot use what you paid for. that's why i like physical media for my consoles because the manufacturers have a track record of ditching support for the previous generation soon after the next one comes out.

i feel differently for PC for some reason. i admit i do put an awful lot of my eggs in Gabe's basket and if he ever turns into a super greedy fuck my library of Steam games could be lost.

Idk about the DS but purchased content on the Wii eshop is still available for download

well oops. i thought they recently shut down some eshop. what did i get that mixed up with?

edit: found this. looks like you can still download things you have purchased but that will end sometime soon

Yes. The ability to re-download WiiWare and Virtual Console games will also stop at some point. We will announce specific details as that time approaches.

i've bought 'physical' copies of PC games in the last ~10 years that were a box with nothing inside except a piece of paper with a steam code and a DVD to install Steam lol
