You actually see the monsters very clearly, and there are plenty of monster fights.

Ghidorahs awakening is awesome.

Every scene with Mothra is awesome. (mothras theme legit almost made me tear up Im a trash nerd)

The mammoth kaiju that gets two seconds of screen time is awesome.

the story is fine. But Legendary absolutely wasted all the talent they had in these Godzilla movies by making their characters afterthoughts. The central characters should have been Cranston and Watanabe, not soldier guy and angry dad. >_>

You can make them out, but there is a lot of darkness. also every single monster fight has cutaways.

Scenes with Mothra, Rodan, the mammoth, crab/spider and MUTO, and Godzilla are well-lit, for the most part.
But when it comes to Ghidorah, the movie skimps by covering him in torrential downpours, fog, roiling clouds and lightning (there's an in-story reason for this, but still).

Story was fine, although some very questionable decisions were made concerning the fates and actions of some of the characters.

Godzilla was handled exceptionally well. He's massive, much more imposing than he was in Yawnzilla 2014, and POWERFUL.

Kong is my favorite monster. I can't wait for Godzilla v Kong!

It was exactly what I wanted in a Godzilla movie. Monsters fighting eachother left and right. Human stuff is there to carry the fight to new locations and is overall inoffensive. A far cry from the trash 2014 movie.

Can't wait for the fight vs Kong. Recent movie Kong was actually really impressive.

Well, notice at the end, when Godzilla sends out the call to assert his dominance as King of the monsters, Kong doesn't even bother to show up lol. Kong doesn't recognize Godzilla as king and is quite comfortable defending Skull Island. Curious to know what would draw Kong into a confrontation with Godzilla when he seemingly wants nothing to do with him.

General consensus is they fight and later team up against... I won't spoil if you don't already know. I will say.. I wish the filmmakers didn't choose that character for the villain. I also read a rumor that one of them doesn't survive.

it was a good movie but most of the monsters are barely used. I wish we got to see at least one fight with each monster

In the novelization, Kong doesn't answer the call of Ghidorah because he doesn't concern himself with events which take place away from Skull Island. I don't know if that's canon or just something the writer threw in, but it makes sense.

I kind of low-key hated that movie. And what are people talking about when they say the fight aren't done very obscured? Yes, they don't literally cut away from a fight happening on tv, but the film has so much environmental bullshit to obscure the bad CGI that it becomes stupid. Ghidorah's first fight is in a blizzard, the climax is during dark thunderstorm, there's volcanic lava plumes and shit during Rhodan's intro.

Also the film has the same major issue with the human characters that the first one had, though arguably worse because the humans are dumber and the secondary villain's justifications are in the forefront and it's all nonsensical drivel.

Legitimately the only part of the movie I actually like was Rhodan.

The film isn't perfect, but as Godzilla movies go, it's very good, and a vast improvement over G'14.
I thought Rodan's intro was spectacular. I literally clapped quietly during that scene.
