Watching through the shorter version...
As a purely theoretical example: Your digital fingerprint is actually very unique. Every single user on GameFAQs is probably recognizable with their fingerprint - no IP address needed. If that fingerprint is linked between devices by a shared account, GameFAQs can track you across locations (if you're accessing on your phone without a VPN or something similar). For example, you may be the ONLY user to log in through Firefox 78.0 on a Windows 8 machine with a display resolution of 1280x800, etc. This is actually why TOR tells you not to resize the window. A company like Google can track you EVERYWHERE if it really wants to. --- "You're sorely underestimating the power of nostalgia goggles." - adjl http://www.smbc-comics.com/comics/20110218.gif ...
