Loved Xenoblade X, except for the extremely forgettable story and characters. Otherwise exploration was really fun and being able to fight things in giant mechs was pretty fun. Overdrive eventually made fights way too easy though if you knew what you were doing.

Monolith just released Xenoblade DE on the Switch, so you're going to be waiting a year or two, if it even comes out.

Nope. The combat is like a more improved version of XC1's combat, but it has its own gimmicks as well (Overdrive as opposed to Chain Attacks, for one).

Maybe in the story and character aspects (and even then, XC2 is full of shonen clichs), but gameplay, exploration, and worldbuilding are all things XCX does better.

The combat is much more about customization and builds. Creating your build is more important than what you in battle.

personally I enjoy 2s combat more. I cant come up with builds on my own.

There are at least games that pretty closely resemble it, even if the minutiae between games is different. The same can't be said for XCX.

Xenoblade X is one of my favorite games, I could get max level and wander around without even doing story I had so much freedom In that game. Before I even unlocked the Mech I swam to an island for about 10 minutes lol.

I really don't know if the Switch is powerful enough to run it. The Wii U wasn't exactly the best thing to run it on, and it was still stretched to its limits.

XCX is better than 1 and 2. It may have lacked some kind of grandiose story, but the world was absolutely MASSIVE, with a ton of things to do, tons of side characters, tons of missions, tons of exploration, and hell, GIANT MECHS!

for real - pretty much the only thing lacking from the game was a solid main storyline. but the fact that everything else was so good makes up for it and then some.

The main story is, like, 10% of all of the story in the game, maybe even less. It's absolutely fucking jam packed with interesting sidequests.

I know this is gonna sound really stupid, but you haven't seen the bulk of what the game has to offer until 40-60 hours in. Skells and flight legitimately change everything.

Even for a 100 hour RPG, if you cannot hook me in 15 hours, that is a huge fault to your game.

FF13 gets a lot better like 30 hours in. That is a negative, not a positive.

Exactly. I've never seen a game that fleshes out so many side characters with such great depths and backstories.

I wish Skell combat wasnt so slow though. You have longer cool downs so youre stuck doing basically nothing but auto-attacks for a while.

At least cockpit mode and binds mix it up a little; I do agree on the whole, though.

Yeah, the amazing open world game with excellent combat with limitless build options that explores how humans would cope with something as absolutely terrifying as the loss of their entire planet and the extremely tightly-paced JRPG with its own excellent combat and well-written characters, both with some of the best soundtracks ever made, are a disgrace to Xenogears.

The 50-hour, half-finished, mind-numbingly repetitive, borderline incoherent at times, JRPG with combat where you hit the same buttons over and over again to win and random encounters sometimes literally every 2 steps you take.

Shut the fuck up.

X is fucking amazing, if they ported it, fixing Skell Flying song, it'd be amazing. Also bring back driving. Was so mad they took that out when you fly.

You can still turn into vehicle mode on the ground

One thing I compare it to that seems to get lost, is that this feels like a much bigger PSO. Hell, it feels more PSO than PSO2 does. An overall story in the background but most of the things you do are small scale / your own desire.

I put like 60 hours in it and I don't even know where I stopped.
