although there's a non-zero chance the dollar will stop being valued as world currency in the next couple decades. hell, it could happen within a few years. and watch out if English stops being the main business language, although that has a lot of momentum.

Even if China were the new global hegemon, they would probably make the US look better. For example, Chinas work in Africa creating infrastructure and shit like that. Building roads and rail. What theyre actually doing to Africa is just what the US did to China by taking advantage of free trade. Building the factories and hiring poor people at a cheap wage. In places an African worker is now cheaper than a Chinese one. Yes this creates jobs and services and modernizes Africa presently, but this is chess not checkers.

Then the Chinese use their own firms and contractors to build the roads and such so they double dip. The Africans have to pay back the loans and they also pay the Chinese to develop them. In the meantime a bunch of the loans will get embezzled and probably not be paid back, at which point China has probably written in a clause that allows them to seize assets or land. And the goods they make for cheap in Africa , China will ship to the US and other countries and make even more of a profit. And unlike the US where the superrich make their money fucking over American interests, the CCP chosen people get rich but also funnel money back to the Chinese government to further expand Chinese power and continue growing the military. Why else would they develop their military so much, the only competition they have left is the US. Its obvious imo, i dont see them as being nice or caring about Africa at all. Its more like a web of dependence theyve created where China holds every advantage. What are they gonna do with it, who knows. Revenge?

the erasure of the middle class was a real problem but... we could have dealt with it. what we can't deal with is a fucked economy AND currency. it's going to be very confusing and unlike anything that we've seen, whatever comes out of this.

there are a lot of layers to American society and many of them cling on to these abstract concepts dearly. there's also a lot of local laws and ordinances that maintained these forces. so it is not quite that simple, but in the worst case scenario we will find out how much of it is "real." We're quite a bit away from out-and-out chaos, of course, but given this situation we'd all be in deep shit if anything close to real chaos hit us.

People are in boxes. I live in massachusetts that is one of the smarter states but as time goes on and people are born into this world and crazy stuff existed before it gets blurred. Especially with people in power and they have influence.

The solution is to not get that disconnected. And don't follow everything that trends either. The world is changing but really the more disconnected people become the worse it is.

The real world still does not equal what you see on tv. Human beings still were not meant to operate in this internet world and it's still fake that way. It's a lot of noise.

The United States defense budget is something like 700 billion.

WE basically have the best technology and defense system on earth by a good margain. We have the best navy and air force by a good margain. And intelligence. And production. So if the world goes to war we can prevent and produce at the highest rate.

They would basically have to blow all that up which isn't happening. If we go to war we can win any war we want by sheer volume so countries are stupid to go to war with us. We would anniliate them if we really wanted to.

These countries are trying to attack our infrastructure and economy. It would take something really stupid. Trump is stupid but he's still a figurehead. Money talks a lot louder than he does.

Thats not thinking too far ahead, its happening right now. Its been happening for over two decades. What im suggesting will all happen in our lifetime.

Also the US will be fine. Even if the country goes through a crisis and restructure, it wont cease to exist. All the doom and gloom is lame, less powerful countries have survived worse than this. The real downfall of this country would be that the younger generations are complete pussies that are ashamed of themselves. Theyre basically a disgrace that think posting #BLM makes them a good person, when in reality many are weak, entitled, and lazy. Thats why youre seeing a resurgence in the popularity of communism, because it appeals to weak, stupid people.

America strikes me as like a large company that gave up on infrastructure and investment a long time ago in favour of just lining the board pockets.

I mean what have you guys been doing for future proofing your country over the past however many decades? Seems like you've just been gutting education, infrastructure, transport, healthcare, employee rights, wages, affordable housing - in favour of making Jeff Bezos and Co just a bit richer.

That works for a while but it's not exactly surprising that there's such a big problem now. There's a reason why countries like Germany are doing so well these days and it has nothing to do with how much funding the military receives.
