They've taken over YouTube with their dire spelling, awful memes and MEGA RAGE ARGUMENTS worse than even milennials. Sooner or later they're gonna be old enough to use the internet more freely and buy games themselves and discover GameFAQs.

As we get older and fade out of the primary demographic targeted by video games, younger folks who come into that demographic are going to seek out spaces to talk about video games. It's the natural order of things - GameFAQs isn't going to pander to the exact same people over the course of its life.

If gen z take over GameFAQs, we might as well let them have it. Shit, it's not like they're any worse than convicted pedophile conspiracy theorist phone-tappers, bitchmade trolls with blogspot sites dedicated to "mod abuse" and people posting anti-semitic "gamers rise up" messages because you can't shoot a Jewish holy symbol in a video game.

At best, the current GameFAQs userbase is also uber-toxic and entitled - I don't think gen z is going to be that different, or even as bad as the current userbase. Might as well just concede the website to the next generation and fall back to familiar discords to talk about a broader swath of subjects with friends you've made along the way.

I feel like the very premise of this topic is flawed

they won't take over the site it will just slowly fade out of relevance as a discussion platform. I don't expect the guides to go anywhere soon but the widescale social sphere of the internet is approximately 5 sites and gamefaqs is not one of them

Ah sorry. I retract that as I was misinterpreting some of the poll choices.

But as was said, I think the premise itself is flawed, because while people still use this place for guides and the like, the message board communities aren't even remotely what they were ten years ago, let alone fifteen.

I just don't think Gen Z has a stake here.

I mean you're on the game boards. You can see how busy they are in general. Sure the "big" games get traffic but there it all moves so fast anyway it's all so much noise as it is.

They spend their time doing repetitive 15-second videos of arm-dancing to some farmer-sounding tune played on a kazoo. They're not sophisticated. As long as they can easily post their shit and rage at anyone that doesn't tell them they're amazing, they're good.

thats actually only a few gen zers. a lot of the people i know actively go to protests or show their support by using tiktok to spread awareness.

I held this same viewpoint once. Every generation thinks the next one is lazy and disrespectful and dooming us all.

But I've worked with them, even under them (which is great because they end the shift 2 hours early because why work?), I've seen what they post to each other when parents aren't looking, I'm getting replies from them every day on YouTube. Yeah you see it from millenials GameFAQs etc. The problem is that our worst is their average.

Im 26, so I dont know where I fall on the line (I think milenial) but Gen Z at the very least reject the whole All I do is drink craft beer and need a glass of wine for every little instance of everything thing so I respect them

How do they come off across in real life? I dunno, they feel like children.. this 20-21 year old was talking to me and it just felt wrong lol

It was odd, I got the whole mind your ps and qs and respect your elders thing but none of that is passed down from milenials to these new guys.. just strange I guess

However, anyone who "speaks" sincerely, clearly, and seriously, and does so *consistently*, builds credibility that aspiring and accomplished trolls cannot touch. :)

I suppose I never answered the topic's question.

I will make no assumptions about the toxicity or entitlement of new users unless their own posts give me reason to.

I will carry on as I always have: conversationally on social boards, and with intent to help on game boards. If the people I speak to show any signs of these negative qualities, I may engage at my discretion, but oftentimes I'll just ignore them.
