Most asian countries have a history of wearing masks when sick, so they tend not to be as insane and asinine about wearing one now.

The "Mask" wearing regulation is a solution to a "People Problem".

In Japan, the government had no legal basis to enforce quarantine or masks, but they begged the populace, and most people kindly complied.

No amount of regulation can absolutely enforce it.

If you don't wear one, you're a selfish prick.

Pure and simple, people care more about their momentary comfort then helping society by doing a simple thing.

Same with Social Distancing, it isn't hard to comply with, your just a douche for not doing it.
