...I never stopped feeling mildly lost in the story. Witcher 2 especially opened things up and kind of expects you to know the history of all of these countries and how they interact. Like I'm fifty hours in, almost at the end of the game, and suddenly the "Thanedd coup" becomes a important part of the backstory.

It probably isn't helped by the fact that there are two drastically different storylines in the game. Or that it's a reasonably complex plot with at least two different conspiracy theories happening at the same time.

I think I get the basic idea of it though.
