They used to. Now they've given up hope for me. They've said before that my brother if their only hope for grandkids. Unfortunately, it seems he and his wife decided against it.

My Dad said something about it a few months ago. I dont blame him, I'm 30 now and hes getting up there in age. Sorry Pops, I'm the one that's gonna have to deal with all that responsibility and it's not worth doing just to please you >_>

my parents kinda do. My older brothers do not want kids though, I think. I do, but I'm the youngest. My dad is probably going to die before I have any, unfortunately.

Kind of, but not even in a relationship yet. My brother is having a kid though.. I totally feel why they want us to have kids though now, especially non western cultures. They want to live as long as possible to see their/your grandkids/children grow.

When I was born, I only had one grandparent left, and she passed away when I was 18. And now my dad in his mid 70s and got diagnosed with cancer 3 months ago and has at best realistically, one year to live.

Now adays people are having kids later to pursue advanced degrees and save have enough for a house and supporting a family first. Now Imagine if you have kids when you are 35 and your kids do the same. You will be 70 when you get your first born. But the average life expectancy is mid 70s to early 80s. You may not live long enough to see your grandkids pass 10 years of age. My dad likely won't see his first grandkid pass one year of age before he succumbs to cancer.

Do it when you are ready financially, but just know that you will regret feeling that way towards your dad when you have to deal with your parents passing away or when you start to have kids. When you become a grandparent one day, you will want to see your grandkids as long as you can too.

They both died knowing full well that they would never have grandchildren. Hell, they died knowing me and my brother were kissless virgins in our 30s. (And our sister was on boyfriend #6).

That sucks. RIP. But it doesn't have to be that way. It's one thing to chose not to, but if it's something else like shyness, you don't have to make it a self fulfilling prophecy. Do what makes you happy and know that you may have to get out of your comfort zone, especially when it comes to finding partners.
