if small businesses arent helped any more through this pandemic. Thats terrible. The craft beer scene in Texas is so damn good. 33% might close? Fuck.

im sure its even worse in states with smaller craft beer scenes.

Except a lot of the big breweries here are also brewpubs with fantastic restaurants attached. St. Arnolds restaurant has had to permanently close their kitchen because the Texas government counts their beer distribution as part of the over 50% alcohol rule.

The distribution of beer in Texas is also largely regulated by TABC, so a lot is out of the brewerys control.

In summary, your comments are insensitive and you should feel bad.

Thats why I dont buy Karbach anymore actually. They were my favorite brewery right when I turned 21 back in 2012. Hopadillo was my first go to beer that wasnt some shitty light beer like bud light or keystone lol

But I just cant support InBev buying out these great local craft breweries. St. Arnold, 8th Wonder, and Real Ale are my favs in Texas by far now.

That bubble hasnt burst yet, actually. Americans have proven that the craft beer trend is here to stay, which is why new breweries have been popping up constantly the past 5 years. I do believe its close to bursting, but even these small tiny breweries make decent profit, and provide jobs for the local economy.

Local craft breweries are one of the best things to help local economies in a LONG time. Its newer industry, and people love trying new beers, even if theyre not that great

I need to go to the restaurant. I used to go to Karbach before they expanded, when it was just a tiny tap room with a stage. 10 bucks would get you a glass and 3 beer tokens. It was AWESOME.

Love Street is a solid ass beer. I keep forgetting that people outside of Texas get Karbach now. Im pretty sure even Chilis carries it in other states >_>

I'm a big fan of it tbh. I much prefer seeing lots of passionate people with their own businesses than going to a McPub and speaking to a barman who is just counting down the minutes until his shift ends.

Same. I dont necessarily even care if the beer is incredible. If a brewery has a cool taproom/bar you can hang out in, Im all for it.

A lot of these breweries are probably hampered by stupid midwest alcohol laws that make it unnecessarily difficult to actually make and sell beer and hamstring the ability to pivot direction in a crisis.

Where delivery is impossible because of remnant blue laws, carryout should still be an option.

Nah they have a Texas alcohol law problem. TABC is one of the most strict organizations in the country when it comes to sale of alcohol. Hell, we still cant buy beer or alcohol till noon on Sundays, and liquor stores are completely closed on Sundays.

Plus the only place you can purchase liquor is at a liquor store. Gas stations and grocery stores legally cant sell it, like they do in many other states.

Because I hate standing around and drinking which is most of what breweries are about from my experience. When I was younger, the social get together was basketball and videogames. In my early mid-twenties, I just trained mma with people for my social needs. Now, whenever people want to hang out, it's always bar or brewery. I want to do an actual activity. I don't want to just go drink and talk.

I want to point out that my original post was talking about what I want to personally experience in the future, not commentary on our culture. It seemed like the post came across as a "damn those kids for having fun."

This post comes across as that too. What are you, 5? You wanna go play bumper cars and mini golf every time you hang out with friends or something?

Sitting around talking shit while drinking is what most adults do. Its why the classic American sitcom usually involves everyone sitting in a bar drinking.
