That the totals right now. Looking at the drop off in deaths like wtf happened in NY to even cause that gap. Next closest is NJ. And that state probably had people who worked in NY and ran away to it. But after that holy shit at the drop.

Fauci said they were basically sucker punched.

Lack of info & prep on the virus, condensed population, being an international travel hub. A pretty bad combination

Cuomo handled the pandemic better than any other governor in the country, and we should thank him for that.

The death to cases ratio is the weirdest part to me. There are other states with huge amounts of cases but nowhere near the amount of deaths.

Because they didn't have enough supplies when the outbreak hit and Trump admin was intentionally preventing supplies from being sent.

Most of that happened when we had even worse testing capacity than we do now (its still pretty bad) so its likely that even as FL catches up to NY in total cases DETECTED that NY had far more ACTUAL cases.

Wasn't New York's positivity rate around 40% at its peak? Basically, despite what the actual case numbers show, it was way more widespread in New York than what is actually recorded, and they were only testing at-risk, or people with serious conditions at the time. Testing is far more accessible and available now, and still nowhere near the positivity rate of NY at its peak.

That would be because of forcing nursing homes to take covid-19 patients, which led to a massive number of elderly deaths which is why their ratio is so bad.

Urban density.

That would account for spread or infection.

The fact that the ratio is so out of whack is odd - especially when places like Florida have a MUCH older population.

also several smaller metros got even worst death rates than NYC at the beginning of this shit (see Southwest GA for instance) but they ain't the media hub that is NYC so they occasionally got attention but not really
