I'm turning 27 in December and all of my friends are dreading being 30

Honestly I am kinda glad to be older. I'm done with school, have a real job, plenty of cash on hand, got my own place, etc

I feel like your 30s would be just a less poor more mature version of your 20s >_>

I don't care as much now that I am older.
College aged girls seem too young.
If you started a 401k in your twenties, you will be happy.

If you have em then the age doesnt mean much.

Now that I think about it, most of my friends who are freaking out about it are my female friends, it might just be because they are worried they won't look as pretty.

huh, if they didn't care by then, why would they suddenly start caring?

it bothered me more because i did so much with my life before 30, that i started to have existential crises about wasting it. when you spend all your time getting degrees in engineering you start to worry about having wasted the best years of your life instead of actually living them to the max

I get that, I recently completed my Masters Degree so I did spend a LOT of time in school. Granted some of that involved partying and casual sex, but DAMN I spent a lot of time studying for tests and writing papers lmao

Thats just 2 degrees in a much easier field and you still lived your life. I have the equivalent of 3 degrees in engineering...why do you think I focused so much on being a pick up artist...had a lot of lost time to make up for

I imagine yeah. I managed to get my sex phase out of the way in my late teens early 20s. I mean I'm not saying I don't date now but I got my fill in.

I'm 33 and still feel young and learn new things easily enough. I also own my home, my vehicle, a healthy range of hobbies, and have some decent savings. I was looking forward to getting some traveling done the next couple years now that I don't have anything better to spend money on but the dumbshits in charge of this country have done a good job torpedoing that ambition.

36 is going to be the one that hits me. I'll have been an adult longer than a child at that point and can no longer consider myself young anymore

It's bad if you don't think you're where you should be in life at that age, which a lot of people don't.

The internet encourages people to compare themselves to everyone else and what they've accomplished in comparison which is obviously harmful.

Its bad even if you've accomplished a lot because you start to examine opportunity costs a lot more

No it's just a number on its own. But yeah people in their early 20s seem too young, and you are past your peak, including healthwise with food, sleep and injures vs early 20s. You
gotta be careful and healthy as ever

Like I said I'm nearly 30 (2 days away) and I haven't been able to work for about 10 years, the only time I did work was for a couple of months. I have tremors, partially numb body parts that have been that way for five years, weakness in my hands, problems with incontinence, sometimes have difficulty walking, I've been on antidepressants for 17 years, I have to take an anti-psychotic to stay mentally stable and in the last two years I've started having partial seizures (medication helps but they're still very exhausting).

With all that I'm also essentially a carer for my partner and I have a 7 year old daughter who I see regularly.

So yeah getting older fills me with fear as I can only see my health getting worse. My partner is worse off than me physically and mentally and I expect they'll die before I do.

Life isn't 100% terrible. I'm more loved and in love than I ever have been in the past. But in general aging is a downward spiral
