NVIDIA had just released a $649 GPU, and a few weeks later ATI released the $199 4850 which pretty much matched it in performance, the $299 4870 which exceeded it and the $399 4850 X2 which absolutely obliterated it.

4850 was my first and only Radeon GPU and probably the piece of tech I most regret purchasing because of the awful drivers. I went back to Nvidia after that.

I had to return my 4850 since it rendered the sea in mission 1 of CoD4 completely green.
