Plenty of other countries DO have solutions that work better than what our country did, Ben. Just look at the infection and death rates. That's why we need to vote him and his party the fuck out of office come November.

A hypothetical Hillary stating "this is bad, take it seriously" would have accomplished little but making tinfoil-hat nutters tinfoil nut even harder.

There would still be no constitutional basis for a national lockdown mandate or even a mask mandate, and by the time the dogpile of court cases (and associated stays) finally weaved through the courts, the same general end result would have happened anyway.
Possibly even worse, if the tea-party crowd mobilized in mass-opposition to even the mere appearance of overreach.

Disbanding the pandemic team wasn't exactly a great idea, but that was technically before the apocalypse happened.

Trump couldve actually taken it seriously. Both behind the scenes and in public(I.E not making stupidass comments about how it will miraculosuly go away, Insulting and undermining experts and refusing to wear a mask in public etc.)

He couldve also taken measures well before this to strengthen the CDC as opposed to weakening it as he has done.

not major vectors sure, but with the limited time and numbers of the studies mean we can't truly be sure of the total consequences. since the children are interacting heavily with adults who more easily spread COVID-19 it does mean that spread can happen. looks like some research says that the transmission from child to adult is half of adult to adult.

I think this might be one of those "stopped clock" moments for the Trump administration. I think the scientific evidence suggests that opening the schools carefully and intelligently would not cause many new cases. I think this is a good idea, if done right.

Unfortunately the current administration gives us zero confidence that it will be done right. This will probably end up being like the China travel ban. Every time they come up with an idea that is actually good, they completely fuck it up in the execution. I think America may wind up becoming the only country to have a major spike in infections from reopening schools.
