Its 4 years old, GTX1070 i5 7600.

Even nowadays people never recommend more than 550W.

I let a PC shop put together the parts list so I guess I deserve this.

It probably didnt. Notice most PC Parts lists come out estimating like 300 watts usage. And everyone recommends a 600 watt power supply. You know, for head room.

Older computers sucked up the power. I had a PSU burn out because it was too weak. So I'm not really surprised.

I mean, its not going to hurt your PC having a 750w rated supply.

but its recommended because of you decide to add a beefier card or more devices, lights, fans or drives it adds up.

so its better to have and not need than to need and not have.

Futureproofing.
So you wont need to buy a new PSU if you want to do a GTX 1070SLI.
