Learned several things

1. ..yea, you run your own ads lol. I thought it was all automatic. So I've been playing for free this whole time. Not that the ads would've gotten me much anyways but still, it was there
2. I'm starting to learn the behaviors with viewers. I've learned they come and go, people are fickle. And thats fine. at a certain point I just started questioning out loud the motives of these people. Like, why come into an RPG playthrough for 20 seconds. Was wondering if its something to do with me or if I'm not a good streamer or host. I think I came off whinier than I should've because at the end, when b8ers were leaving, they were like "Don't be sad, i'm gonna leave" lol. I wasn't beating myself up or complaining. These thoughts were just running through my head and I figured I'd say them outloud since I was hosting and to keep some talking going. but I should probably not do that either
3. Somewhat of a continuation of the other one but I've learned viewers...don't actually VIEW you. Apparently its the cool thing to just leave the stream going while doing something else. I figured people were just dedicated to the game and watch it but thats not the case. I AM gonna have to be a good host and talker if I'm to keep this up
4. Unless you purposely announce you are doing a master run, its okay to just play casually. Sometimes I beat myself up for not playing the best I can be but thats not what people are there for. Just games
5. I'm not sure WHAT would happen but I've learned when you do an ad break, the recording of the stream ....is still going. I reviewed some footage and yea, I'm just standing there doing nothing sometimes. I need to exercise a "BRB" screen during these times
6. You can do an adbreak every 10 minutes. I know you shouldn't...DO that. But I thought an adbreak was every hour...then I discovered I can do that every 30...then it turns out its every 10. I was testing this when it was just GOG left in the stream, he was a good sport about it lol
7. then finally......Ads don't get you much LOL. I know, I've said this before. But even with me discovering ad breaks, I still only earned 5 cents from a long ass stream. Mayne. It just blows my mind everytime. The idea is I guess you're supposed to be running these ads with like 20 or 30 people there. I'm still rolling 5-10. Its an obvious thing but still something I need to keep in mind. Its just funny to me it still blows my mind. I'm not upset, When this started, I knew I was gonna be making "some change". This is just that in a literal sense

From what i remember thats the feed you get if you have adblock as well.

I'm pretty sure this kind of discussion is not alkowed but I will say EVERYTHING went wrong yesterday

I had a folder of SNES games....somewhere. I can't locate them now. So i had to scramble to find the game at that point.
and MK gave me some links to some programs but I got NOTHING but virus/PUP/Trojan warnings from them. I was going to chalk up to my protections being overly sensitive but no,t hey weren't

so in his haste, MK came up with the idea of using Dolphin and the fucking Wii Shop version of SMRPG and it worked like a charm LOL

Its fitting, right? Something so ghetto for ol Pun

Stingx2/MMX tried giving me some retro thing but the thing just wouldn't work. Its weird because several people insisted its great but it just kept crashing

This is definitely big. The last thing you want to do, especially as a smaller streamer, is talk about viewer count/viewers leaving/whatever in any way. It's awkward and is more likely to turn people off.

Yeah, also if the viewer has Twitch Turbo, and I think it's also the case if they're subscribed. So basically anyone who doesn't get an ad still sees whatever you're doing during the ad.

And to expand a bit... Basically, talk the same whether you have 5 viewers or 50 or 500.

I watch a bunch of different sized streams, and the best ones basically talk as if they're talking with a group of friends instead of at a chat of X amount of people. It makes it feel more personal and makes it easier for the viewer to get into whatever you're doing and feel like they're a part of it. But likewise, if you're making comments about people leaving, that can feel personal, too, and make people feel awkward about coming and going from your stream.

It can be tough to keep that mindset, but it's better to try to present it moreso as "I'm here playing a game with all my buds" instead of "I'm here playing a game for all of you viewers," if that makes sense.

Yeah, what they said. I come and usually go pretty quick, since I don't have a computer and am on mobile only.

So I tune in for a short while, and hop put when I have to use my phone for something else.

but as I've said, lesson learned. I was just speaking as if I was talking to b8ers and the b8ers know the behind the scenes stuff here so I was speaking pretty freely but I guess that STILL wasn't too good conversation for them either, or anyone for that matter

Something like that is ok since it's done in a light-hearted way. I've seen a streamer go like "oh, I have 69 viewers? Nice!" and then the viewer count will actually drop and they'll just say "well, I guess some people didn't like the 69 joke and left, haha"

This is true. Only time I comment on someone leaving is if they straight up tell me they are, and that's cool; I wish em well, thank them for coming out, etc.
