It had cool lore and stuff and I kinda liked some of what went on with the story, but WTF at the personal story being about a woman who can't control her emotions and keeps screwing everything up. Like even with that being the point to mature from, it's a major >________________________>

I mean you don't show black guys eating watermelon in a movie, even if it's at the start, and there's not even anything wrong with eating watermelon.

The fascist aliens that brainwashed her told her she can't control her emotions because they were trying to maintain control over her.

The actual writing of the movie was saying the exact opposite thing you're trying to say it was saying. It was about her strong will clinging to her identity and not who the Kree were trying to make her.

I just don't understand why they chose to make the character unlikeable, smarmy and overly sarcastic, even though she's in a fish out of water situation the whole film and then implement her in the universe moving on, solely as a get out of jail free card when the writers can't think of anything to get them out of a situation.

Also I was totally expecting them to be setting up a twist where she turns out to be a skrull but you can't really blame the filmmakers when that would no doubt be a departure from the actual source material.
