People are saying the robber put the victim in the hospital in the first place, but with certain heart disease it's just a ticking time bomb so he could have been bound to have a scare to triggered a heart attack maybe in a situation where no one is there to give him CPR. So yes maybe the robber did actually save his life.

Obviously not. My alternative would be that he not commit armed fucking robbery in the first place lol
The fact of the matter is people make mistakes and do stupid fucking shit all the time. Some of it could be attributed to evil, but I guarantee the majority is due to desperation and a lack of real help out there. I'm not excusing what he did, because being out on parole is basically your chance to start correcting your life, but the american justice system is so fucking broken that being out on parole can be worse than just serving your entire sentence because one small mistake means your back in prison. Obviously his wouldn't have been one small mistake, my point is your system is not about rehabilitation and forgiveness, it's about shame and punishment.

You're on a tight leash while on parole. Committing a new crime on parole is just asking to be sent back to prison. Saving the cashier's life doesn't change the fact that this dude intentionally violated his parole and was probably expecting to get remanded anyways.
