Welcome to the King of Fighters 2020 (NOT MERCS) Simulated Character Battle Tournament!

The game is simple. The two* listed characters are placed in an (imaginary) location with a variety of (imaginary) environments, kind of like a picture in a child's schoolbook that describes different types of geological features. Within a ten mile radius, there is an (imaginary) urban downtown, exurbs, plains, snow-clad mountains at the edge, dry plains, etc. Fighters start wherever is most appropriate for them, but feel increasingly compelled to seek out their opponent and fight. Strong-willed fighters can try to hold out in their chosen environment for longer... eventually, all will succumb and actively search for the other to battle.

To participate, just vote in bold for whichever character you believe will win. Giving reasoning is optional, but please be polite and read what others have said and carefully make your decision. I'll ping the nominators (they can opt out) to give arguments if they wish.

I think this is another match where two variants of the same archetype are put against each other. John Wick is a hitman. The Beast is an assassin. They're in action movies that don't take themselves seriously at all, so their feats are pretty silly. From what I've seen (granted I haven't watched their movies), they're very similar... except the Beast is just more. More ridiculousness that could probably be stopped by a character from a more grounded franchise, but not from somebody who relies on the same silliness to grant him power, somebody who would probably be a mid-movie elite mook that still gets merked without too much effort being put in. It's a raw counter.

Yeah, John Wick's good, but I'm not sure he can match someone who can harmlessly stop a bullet with a single finger. I do wonder what type of offense The Beast has, though, as well as what his defensive feats versus melee attacks are.

For John Wick research, I'd recommend looking up clips on YouTube, mainly because I'm entirely too lazy to put in proper arguing effort, even for characters I know well >_>

Here's a clip of the Beast's frog-like technique (they call it something specific in the clip), where he puffs himself like a bullfrog and torpedoes into buildings. He only seems to do this when his opponent starts dominating, which suggests maybe he wouldn't do it at the start of a fight. The clip also shows how he's ultimately defeated (at least I think that's near the end of the movie), if you're curious about that.

He also has a feat where he punches a guy in the face so hard the guy's head spins 180 degrees around, killing him instantly.

John Wick is excellent, quite possibly the best competitor possible as far as American action crime thrillers go

but even as unrealistic as some of Wick's feats are, they just can't compare to the absurd feats possible in a Stephen Chow movie

This is way below what the Beast can do, so unless anyone has any compelling arguments for Wick, I'll vote for the Beast.

If he can stop bullets fired at point blank range with one finger, it stands to reason he could do the same if they were fired from further away because he would have more time to react, so John Wick's firearms expertise is invalidated in this match-up. That means this would have to be a melee fight, and while John Wick may have the techniques necessary to quickly incapacitate his opponent, again the Beast has him beat in this area since his strength is far above what is realistically possible in John Wick's universe.

The Beast was defeated in his universe by the Buddha's Palm, which only worked because the Beast headbutted Sing into orbit, giving him the opportunity to build up momentum as he plummeted back down to Earth. Even if John Wick survived being headbutted into orbit, he wouldn't survive re-entry, let alone be able to attack from it. John also doesn't have any comparable attacks he could use instead.
