Which again makes no sense since now theyre just doing the Sticker Star formula with minor changes.

I enjoy GameXplain but they almost seem too afraid to criticize Nintendo it feels like.

Oh no yeah, GameXplain sucks lol. They're basically what happens when you take fucking nobodies, and let them pretend to be journalists. They wiggled their way into mainstream game journalism by worshipping Nintendo and through sheer Youtube analytics lol.

I read in an interview that the director at Intelligent Systems acknowledged people wanting Paper Mario to have a return to form, but he said "offering players new experiences is our priority" and that a return to form would prevent them from doing so.

Honestly I wouldn't mind this too much if the Mario & Luigi series was still going (which was literally quoted as a reason for them to deviate from the original formula for Paper Mario). However, Alphadream is GONE, so we won't get those games anymore (unless they get someone else to make them).

That's fine, I'm totally okay with them changing the series to what they wanted to be, but completely outright ignoring that the original games existed is fucking ridiculous.

Like, what advantage could they possibly gain by repeatedly pissing off a large portion of the original fan base for a series that they're trying to push? You don't have to pretend they don't exist to not want to continue that gameplay style.

I personally did not like the M&L games that much. Way too gimmicky imo, I rather play PM, well the real ones.

To anyone itt who wants to see a change in direction with this series, I'd strongly recommend that you support Bug Fables and don't touch this game. Or just buy it used.

bug fables plays like paper mario but jesus christ the writing is so beyond, so so beyond cringey. it hurts

So, Ive been keeping up with the leaks and I guess this game just ignores Mario lore. Spoilers for a major event if you guys actually care about the plot.

Bobby, the Bob-Bomb partner, kills himself to open up a path and save Olivia, the origami girl. Olivia is depressed for like a solid minute but Mario cheers her up with some DK, Samus, and Goomba masks. Not even kidding.

Pretty sure it was established that Bob-Bombs dont die from exploding. In fact, an explosion from a Bob-Bomb is more like a regular person throwing a punch. I guess Bobby would rather be dead than be in a new Paper Mario game.

Superstar Saga was legendary. Really expansive considering it was a GBA game, very interactive but well-paced and put together. As an RPG, it was pretty grounded but had some things that RPG vets can pick up and really break the game with. The bosses were tough and varied enough but not too tough for both new and old players. The world was also really imaginative and the characters were really charming. I guess the story was pretty basic, but it didn't really hurt the game. Paper Mario probably does a bit more in the story department... or well it did and then no longer ever since Sticker Star.

I'd say Color Splash took a lot of cues from Superstar Saga style of world building more than anything, but that one didn't do anything in terms of gameplay.

Also I dunno why people are saying GameXplain's previews were pandering, cuz they talk about a few negatives that kinda turned me off the game lol. They said the random encounters still felt pointless and the randomized puzzles didn't really work.

Lol Miyamoto has way less power recently than ppl like to think. Sometimes devs just make a bad decision, and that's about it.

Miyamoto has a tremendous amount of respect and going against him puts you at risk of becoming a pariah. It's got nothing to do with his authority.
