What's your price limit? I would go for one with tons of storage, the blue star or whatever energy saving thing. Automatic ice maker, hot and cold water dispenser.

I'd start with a fridge that fits the cavity you're going to put it in.

Wherever it is going: measure it, write down the measurements, and then measure it again. I promise that when you're in the store looking at a fridge and in your mind's eye you're imagining it fitting in that spot in your kitchen perfectly, you are probably wrong.

As someone who has delivered refrigerators before, be aware of which direction the door(s) open. If it doesn't open the way you want, inform whoever handles the purchase order that you would like it switched. Measure the size of the opening that the refrigerator will reside (height, wiidth, depth) (all assuming that it isn't sitting in the opening). Last thing you want, and the person doing the deliver as well, is lugging the refrigerator into the kitchen only to find out that it doesn't fit.

Oh, almost forgot this one, but its the most important. In addition to measuring the opening where it will sit, make sure you choose a size that will actually fit through your door and to its final location. People like to buy large refrigerators thinking it will magically make its way into their house.

Yeah that too

You can always get a good size freezer chest if you can't get a fridge with freezer that fits the space/budget though

Bottom drawer freezers can freeze over in some brands like LG (I have one that does) so I recommend staying away from bottom drawer freezer LG Models.

I hear Whirlpool and another brand dont have this problem, but I dont own one so I cant say for sure.

I also got a back up fridge for the garage it has the option to make the freezer a fridge I personally really like this fridge, but I cant remember who makes it.

This though there are deals

You could finance a nicer one and just put 800 down

Make sure the damn thing can get through your door. Unless you have like a patio type thing with wide doors on your property.

This is a great bit of advice as it sucks having to remove the doors to get one inside.
