Honest question, I don't really follow this thing

We went from 30k a day in early April to 60k yesterday, but in April we had some of the worst testing infrastructure of all of the western nations

It's important to differentiate between reported case and actual cases. There's definitely more reported cases because we are testing more. The number of actual cases is harder to pin down, but hospitalizations were going up last I checked so it's likely actual cases are rising as well. It should in no wonder be interpreted that it means the US is in good condition. Just that we were in much worse condition previously than we had thought.

No. The positive rate of tests is up. It had been around 5 percent and is now 9 percent nationwide, with much higher marks in the states being hit hardest.

If you have coronavirus you have it whether or not you get tested.

This isnt Heisenbergs Uncertainty Principle where the status of the person is in question until you observe them.

But they can't report them if they don't know they exist...

Not sure what you're getting at. Don't you think millions have had it and many are asymptomatic? They don't report millions

Maybe not millions are asymptomatic but I'd bet money the majority of people infected are asymptomatic (or very mild symptoms) just based on what my primary care doctor said.

Its not due to more testing, no. Its more actual cases:

If you're confused you can always look at a different stat like hospitalization. More testing wouldn't lead to double the hospitalization, for example.

In early April back when I thought about getting tested the CDC recommended only that people showing symptoms get tested, and many clinics would not make appointments with you unless you had symptoms. So it's possible the actual infection rate was much higher before and we just didn't know it.

they say the estimate is actually 10X whatever is currently reported as a rule of thumb
