Wow that threw me back in time.My Dad would be mad about my Grandparents calling it Eckerdx instead of Eckerd like the sign said.They would add in the X lol.

What's funny is that Eckerds was mismanaged to hell. They got bought out by JCPennys (who was running Thrift drug like a well oiled machine) but then changed over everything to Eckerds because they had more stores. I remember the day of the switch for our district where these managers came up from Florida to do the transistion. What a shit show. The funniest part was Thrift having far superior computers and sales machines, and Eckerds ripping them out to install their crappy registers that didn't even have monitors.

Yeah hearing the name Eckerd instantly brings me back to the early to mid 90s

Also TIL: In 1960, four African-American students from Allen University staged a sit-in at the Columbia, South Carolina store's whites only lunch counter. In Bouie v. City of Columbia, the U.S. Supreme Court reversed their trespassing convictions.

Can't believe one of the landmark moments in the Civil Rights Movement happened at a fucking Eckerd store

I kinda miss Circuit City.

It felt like a magical land whenever got to go there and it was very rare. Oh, but we can go hang out in a thrift or crafting store because there might be that 1 dumb stupid ribbon or fake flower.

I won't hate on the one thrift store though, had a bunch of creepy crawler molds and stuff I still got floating somewhere in the dregs of storage.
