I hate them. you can always tell when it's not the original person's voice coming out their mouth. and it just sounds weird. when watching foreign language live action shows i will only stick with subs.

I remember trying to watch the english dubbed Jackie Chan movies.... So bad. Good thing I understand Cantonese and was able to watch them properly.

Awful. It looks and sounds ridiculous in live action, and only works if the movie itself is already campy.

It varies. I watch Cantonese dubs of Mandarin shows all the time with no issue. English dubs for Chinese shows in the other hand are very jarring. I can't quite put my finger on what it is.

Terrible almost all the time but essential for 60s to 80s Italian genre movies. Tbf in most of those the dialogue was recorded off set and dubbed over even in Italian and the cast were usually people of varying nationalities and set in the USA.

Hate em. Like I have this irrational dislike for the German language, yet I still refuse to watch Dark's English dub. Not only are the non synced mouths distracting, the VA also seem incapable of properly portraying the emotions shown. Everything feels muted

Because our brains are wired to link a sound to a source. Sounds not aligning with visuals can be annoying as hell. Try watching an entire movie with the sound less than a 1 second later/earlier than the visuals. You'll probably feel what tons of people feel watching live action dubs.
