I feel like the second we saw a space reptile, kung fu tiger, ninja dog, or feline SWAT team member, the internet would immediately go FURRIES! and put a proverbial hex on it.

Obviously remakes of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles get a pass. But I feel like any attempt at something like Bucky O'Hare, Biker Mice from Mars, or Road Rovers would be preemptively written off as furry bait. You could do an edgy remake of Street Sharks where they look like something out of a horror movie and the first screencap would warrant dozens of pictures of BUFF SHARK MEN.

It seems like there's no point to try and make anthropomorphic animal heroes if that fanbase is guaranteed and could potentially give people the wrong impression about the show's intentions.

I'm gonna be honest, that reference was entirely subliminal on my part. <_<

I was just going around the horn listing different types of heroes and animals. My mind just conjured up that connection that a feline hero is a SWAT Kat.

I've heard of some of those, but never saw them. Any shows featuring anthropomorphic animals has my interest.
