Tl;Dr version:

* They closed nothing
* 40% higher deaths per capita than the U.S. and up to 1200% more deaths than neighboring nations
* The economy shrank 5%
* Unemployment went up 2%

The sad part is all the people who this kinda data would be useful to in the U.S. will ignore it :\

Wait the economy only shrank 5% and unemployment only went up 2%? These numbers aren't supporting the argument being made then. That's far better than most Western countries have done. Not saying I think they made the right choice, but those economic numbers aren't making the argument you think they are.

Just from a quick Google search. Every country is having their economy shrink, so you have to make a comparison for that number to be meaningful. It's disingenuous, and I am no fan of their response (or the response of most other Western countries).

Way to ignore the rest of his post though. That 5% is less than many other countries. Sweden is a trade heavy nation and since everyone elses economies pretty much stopped in their tracks it affected us too, hence the 5% drop.

Those are projected for the end of the year. Sweden already hit 5% and I believe US is floating around 4.8%. I haven't checked to see what Sweden is forecasting for the remainder of the year but I'm guessing it's gonna look worse than 7%. For reference, 2008 US economy shrank by 6.2%. 5% in 4-5 month time frame is big.

If you read the OP then you would know that it is the expected shrinkage for all of 2020 for Sweden. Actually, 4.5%. The user who made the bulletpoint post counted that upwards to 5%.

Look man it's okay to just say "I misunderstood the information" and move on. I was initially under the impression it was much worse than it actually is until I saw that post earlier. If I hadn't been aware of how other countries were doing I would have though it was really bad as well.

Something to add: the 40% more deaths per capita than the US part is quickly becoming inaccurate since our death rate is declining since April while the US is just going up.

Meanwhile in Victoria pretty much everything is shut except takeaway, retail and supermarkets, can only be in outdoor gatherings of two and have no visitors or face a fine of $1600
