I've been playing for an hour and just got the ability to save. I had my eye on this game for years because people said it was so off the wall and I knew that I had to replay it multiple times to get the best endings. However I thought it was just going to be generic hack and slash gameplay, when suddenly I'm greeted with a 1943, Resogun, Nex Machina, Jet Force Gemini, hack and slash smorgasbord.

Now I understand how people can replay this game multiple times, that is what I was most worried about

Mess around with weapon combinations. You can easily play through the whole game with the default 2 weapons, but you can do some really nasty stuff with the right weapon and chip combo. Especially the chip that gives your weapon a ranged attack on swing.

I didn't enjoy it at all. Metal Gear Rising made sword slicing robots work because you actually sliced people up but all the enemies in Nier are blocky and just recoil back or tank you. I kept playing for the story but found that to be a letdown too. I recognize that my opinion is in the vast minority on CE
