I went to a park called Holiday World in Santa Claus, Indiana. It's not the most famous park, but it has the distinction of being the first theme park.

So, the day was fun. We rode 16 rides in about 7 hours before calling it a night.

But virtually no precautions were taken for Covid-19. Over 90% of guests were mask free. Rides were not sanitized between guests, nor were the containers guests put their loose articles into before going on rides. Social distancing was practiced about half the time. Some guests stayed six feet behind you -- as indicated by directional footprints -- while others would get right up next to you as if to say the virus was fake news and they were getting on that damn ride 2.5 seconds faster than if they'd stayed two yards apart from you.

Our group -- two family members and I -- agreed to postpone plans to go theme parking in Orlando, Florida which had been scheduled for later this month.

It's going to be a bad idea to go to potentially crowded places for a long time*.

*Potentially crowded and if you'll be in extended, close contact with other people. Picking up your to-go order from a restaurant? Fine. Spending six hours with forty other people at a Magic the Gathering pre-release? Don't do it.

It's more like I want to give the guests a bad review. Yeah, the park could've done more to wipe stuff down. (To their credit, they did provide sanitizer at the entrance and exit of every ride.) But it's mostly the patrons who weren't practicing any precautions.

But then again, a theme park would bring out the people who aren't taking Covid-19 seriously. "We'll go, but we'll wear masks and keep our distance," is a very small minority. We were in that less than 10%.

The virtual queue was really effective. One line took an hour and the rest were under 15 minutes. Most of the rides were walk-ons.
