Never got the Gamestop hate. Always loved the feeling of being a kid walking into the store to see the new games and play with the consoles I didnt have at home. Its a decent place!

You're still a kid, and you don't know anything better.

A corporate-owned chain should at least be able to outsell any given mom n' pop, but they're just constantly trying to rip you off.

They've literally done nothing wrong. I don't think any chain gets more unwarranted hate.

An employee at the store has said she doesn't understand the Internet hate because when the s*** hits the fan, people always know to go to GameStop.

Eh... yeah, they kinda did. Most resale markets benefit the original manufacturer and the consumer, GS made sure no one really benefitted from used games but them. Remember having to buy online passes?

There's absolutely no money to be made simply in selling new consoles, games, first-party accessories, etc. Everything in the industry is tightly controlled and retailers have very little say. Walmart is probably losing upwards of $8 per new game they sell for $50 instead of $60.

Gamestop is absolutely not the reason the game industry doesn't have a resale market similar to what you see with vehicles. If anything the lack of one is the entire reason they exist and grew so large.

And it's also not their fault that some budgets have gotten so bloated to the point that selling less than 5 million copies mean the game is a financial failure.
