Yikes at all those women saying all their bfs verbally abused them or hit them in the comments. And they stayed with them for long periods despite abuse.

What? This is fairly common. A lot of women (from a young age) kind of get this notion that conflict in a relationship is a good thing. That level of conflict generally does increase as feelings develop so extreme fights or the use of force is sometimes normalized as we just love each other THAT much...nah man, that kind of relationship should not be normalized as the true definition of love.

These girls are somewhat lying their asses off. No relationship is perfect and there will always be bumps in the road, and sometimes emotions get the better of ya and you say things you don't mean to say, and that's normal. But they are correct that verbal abuse should not be normal and is bad.

I'm kind of shooting from the hip here but these women seem uneducated. Everyone knows that shit. Or they knew it and they wanted the rush and sense of purpose that conflict brought.

They're low key bragging about they're relationship.

You bring up a point. The expectations these women have may stem from hearing their parents do it.

I can only remember two or three occasions as a child when my parents would yell at each other and it scared the crap out of me. :(

Its easy to say "everyone knows it". Not so easy when you're in the situation. Denial is a thing. Plenty of people can be a 3rd party to a relationship and see its abusive, be in the same situation, but turn around and say "that's different, he really cares about me deep down, he just has a temper, etc, etc". People can know abuse, be it mental, physical or verbal, is wrong, but its not uncommon for people to try and justify or rationalize when its the situation they're in, either out of fear or because they themselves want it to work so badly because of their own feelings. Manipulation can fuck with you and its what a lot of Abusers or Molesters use to keep people under their fist. Coming to that realization after the fact is extremely normal.

Fighting is fine. the true measure is how you both handle the disagreement as a couple. There is this notion among a lot of people that "True Love" is getting angry at each other or that those fights mean they really care about each other, and its just a normal part of a relationship. That notion gets blurred and allows abusers to manipulate. Some people don't realize that manipulation until its too late.

As a guy who was with an abusive woman. It can be SUPER difficult to see all the red flags. Anytime you try and question it, you get shut down and made out like you're a piece of s***.

They get in your head. Emotional manipulation is a hell of a thing.

Once you live together and a lot of stuff becomes 'normal' and entwined, it is very difficult to escape.

Yeah a lot of people dont realise that abusers try to manipulate their victims into feeling either

1. This is normal
2. The victim is the one in the wrong

And hopefully she realizes that's supposed to go both ways too. I'm guessing this woman probably does if she's managed to keep a good man this long.
