Huge missed opportunity imo

Also, if anyone makes a game that plays like MGS2 and 3, I will give you all of my money.

I think the two most prominent ones that came out after the original game was Splinter Cell and Syphon Filter.

Well, these had one major flaw: first-person aim. Dragged the whole game to a crawl. Was better when Snake handled the elevation automatically and you could just pop em three times instead of going for the headshot.

Technically, the MGS1 mechanics are mostly if not entirely present and unaltered but they also just weren't as viable considering the other design changes, like crampt multi-level areas (Strut F a prime example) and rooms that were less grid-like.

And then MGS3 had that nightmare CQC control, like what the hell were they thinking lol.

But anyway, good games for sure, I just would want a spiritual successor of sorts to swap out FPV for a more modern OTS view.

Nah, all of those are perfectly fine (aside of Strut F, fuck Strut F) and I'd want to see them preserved.

and 3

I was hoping so much that V would be like a redux of 3, given the era it was set in. I was so disappointed.

Well

MGS3's CQC is really undefendable. The human shield move, for example, requires you to hold circle lightly to grab the enemy without killing him, then while holding circle lightly, also hold square strongly to ready your weapon. Now if you want to actually aim, you have to add in R1 and move the left stick, meaning you can't cheat by using your left hand to push square.

Never used the human shield if I'm gonna be honest with you

Yeah MGS3's cqc system is total ass. The pressure sensitive buttons were cool and all, but I cant tell you how many times I fucked up a no kill run on accident. MGSV perfected CQC in this series

That's like the only bad thing I can say about 3 though, fantastic game

I have to wonder how CQC works on the Xbox versions of MGS3. Probably less error-prone, since pressure isn't a factor.
