joe40001 07/01/20 9:56:16 AM #1:	Question 1: We'll start simple, let's say I'm 25, but I want to think of myself as 23, for some reason the "23 year old mindset" really helps me function, and thinking of myself as 25 makes me feel like "I missed out" too much or "I should be X by now". Should a person be allowed to think of themselves that way? To (in their own head) "identify" as a 23 year old? Question 2: Should that person be able to keep their age private in social settings? If somebody asks "how old are you?" and that person feels this way and they simply say "I'd prefer not to say" or "I don't like to talk about age", is that ok? DISCLAIMER: We are not at all talking about romantic situations, that element completely muddies things, so ignore that part. For the purposes of these hypothetical assume the person is asexual so as to not distract from the conversation. Question 3: How do question 1 and 2 change as the numbers change? Like "I feel like I'm 23, and all my regret, anxiety, and fear is gone and the world is my oyster and I have hope" And then things feel great. They feel "right". And it's like if my brain is able to feel this feeling then the feeling is clearly not purely tied to age. But for some reason the easiest way to bring up the feeling in my brain is to say "You are 23". But the feeling often doesn't stick around long when I can bring it up, because something else comes up and is like "NO, you were depressed when you were that age, and you CAN'T BE THAT AGE NOW." Even though it's not hurting anybody, and it's just a state of mind. Like obviously I can't literally be that age.
