I've got time to kill before my show starts, so I'm going to watch the first episode

First episode was pretty, "meh," but it was alright. I kind of wish it wasn't a single case and they had 2-3 an episode. Case didn't need a full hour to go over, that isn't what the show is about, imo

Maybe it gets better?

Probably depends on execution.

I have been watching the original a lot, and I love the quality of the dramatizations and the variety of cases.

And even Forensic Files is kind of cool because they have experts and witnesses giving testimony that you wouldn't get from a third party YT video.

watching the first episode

intro scene is boring, no charismatic/eerie narrator, it's really slow.

They were interviewing one lady and she says "It happened when he was 32... I think" and then it looked like she was looking at a teleprompter and then said "Yeah 32". -_-

The whole thing feels really disjointed because they show the speaker saying one sentence, cut to some empty scene like an empty room or a ticket on a windshield for the second sentence, cut back to the speaker.

There's nothing to re-enact, they show real footage and then just show what looks like stock footage from Baltimore.

It's not 100% identical but still clearly recognizable. Like a 90% cover or something.

Man that first episode... The case is actually really interesting and there are a lot of really weird details (especially the note). But it didn't feel like UM.

if it brings new light or leads to long cold/dead cases good tbh with hundreds of millions watching now is the time to do it

I got the intro in the first episode.

It's more like a standard Netflix doc but I don't mind that. Mystery in the first episode was interesting. My guess is an accident with his co-workers.

He was so sketchy and fucking creepy. Definitely would be the prime suspect if I was the investigator. The way he speaks isn't the way an innocent person would speak, IMO.
