What I'm gathering from the comments is that she was offended that the kid spoke to her in English instead of Korean (presumably she took this as him assuming she doesn't speak Korean)

Which, okay, be offended by that if you want but I think lecturing the dad was way more offensive

oh she's mad that the kid said it to her in english. in the comments someone said she's german. that's still dumb. english is an international language. it's safe to guess that most if not all white people in Korea probably know at least a little english. I think it's amazing a 4 year old could speak some english.

I agree with the idea behind it, if they're in Korea then speak Korean when greeting a stranger. Stop assuming shit

when i went to korea, i went to a historical palace you can go on tours of. i'm black.

while walking around taking pictures, a group of students, maybe 10-12 years old saw me. they ran up to me and (remember im a BLACK man) said "Hello!" "How are you!" "Good bye!" and ran off laughing.

i cry every night thinking about that.

I'm neither of those things but I still had empathy for it. But maybe because I can't gauge the appropriate level of thick skin required? I don't know.

You have empathy for a white women who is privileged enough to live in another country and speak fluent English. Who weaponizes the Black Lives Matter movement, something meant to protest murders against black people by police, to attack a young child and their father in public for the sheer audacity of saying "Hi" to her.
