I saw Tokyo Drift in theaters when it came out and that's kind of all I was going off and really enjoyed the continuation.

Overall, I had a lot of fun and really got attached to several of the characters. Dom, Brian, Hobbs, Letty, Tej, Romes, etc.

I'm just looking for other stuff with a lot of movies I've never watched. Is this better than the Furious movies?

I did read the first 4 HP books, and saw the first two in theaters, but paid zero attention because I was with a girl.

Imo not really. I don't think the books adapt well to movies at all. I haven't watched a F&F movie since Tokyo Drift was new, so idk if it's better or worse than that.

I enjoyed the movies. The first couple are really enjoyable, but as the movies get darker in tone they kinda lost their enjoyment IMO.

You'll definitely still be able to enjoy the later ones, but the first ones are the best IMO.

I just rewatched all of them on HBO Max. They get progressively worse and I don't really feel that they stuck the landing.

I had never seen a Harry Potter movie until HBO Max and I am struggling to get through the second one. It's so drab, colorless, and boring.

The first two have quite a bit of charm to them, the third one is probably the best overall, and they start declining after that because the charm goes away and they just get darker.

David Yates directed all of the movies after Goblet of Fire, so they start feeling pretty samey too.

I found that the first 2 movies were arguably the best. It might not be direct adaptations from the book, but it gives a good backstory of most of the characters you need to know. 3 isn't incredible but is still watchable. From there it just got worse imo.

Nah 1-7 were great.

After a while they stop being legit stories and just become stupid fun but there's nothing wrong with that.

The characters are basically super heroes and super villains after, maybe, the second Fast and the Furious. I mean even the antagonist in the latest one calls himself black Superman.

I think they are worth a watch but expect a 6 or 7 overall experience. I'm not much of a critic either and I tend to like things a bit more than other people do. If you haven't seen the new Star Trek trilogy they are pretty solid especially if you aren't really a trek fan.

I'd say check them out. They're easy to watch on HBOMax and easy to follow along. There are much better things to watch, but seeing as you watched the FF movies then you should be fine with HP.

The first movie is pretty decent, especially when viewed as a kids movie. I had a friend in college who had never seen nor read them, and he described it as inducing nostalgia. I think that's a good descriptor, it's just a magical movie.
The second movie is more of the same, except worse. The children aren't good at acting (seriously, it feels like they cut every three seconds when it's just them), the plot is very barebones, Richard Harris (the first Dumbledore) is literally on death's door during production and you can see that, and the CG is very wonky on the main sidekick and villain (pretty minor spoilers for an 18 year old movie) Dobby and the Basilisk
The third movie is fantastic. Book purists dislike it for skipping over some major backstory and having muggle clothing on the school premises, and everyone dislikes it for setting the standard of a lot of magic just being wands waving around and being force pushed around, but it's got the best director and cinematography in all the movies. The kids have also grown up and you can see they've learned a lot of acting between movies.
The fourth movie is weird, it feels like two movies stitched together. This one skips over a lot of backstory and begins the "moving tertiary characters to the background" that the rest continue. It also prioritizes action sequences and misses some important scenes.
The fifth movie is the one that fully sets the standard for the rest of the series. Yates becomes the director and every movie becomes clearly his. They have that blue filter every other movie had in the late 00's. It skips over huge chunks of the plot and the timeline moves very fast. It's not terrible, but you can tell they could have done better. Umbridge is a fantastic villain though, so it's got going for it.
The sixth movie is really weird. It's not bad when viewed through the lens of a coming-of-age teen romantic comedy kind of movie, but that's not really in tune with the rest of the saga. I believe they were going for a "calm-before-the-storm" style of movie, but it just feels like nothing happens. The book has a lot of detail over Voldemort and how he became who he is, but the movie just ignores it and does what it wants.
The seventh movie is downright depressing, but I'd say it's good. The situation feels hopeless and it's such a different direction from the rest of the franchise that it can be jarring.
The eighth movie is okay and a decent end to the story. There are little things I can nitpick, but I am mostly ok with them.

All-in-all. go for it.

I grew up watching ST and I love the new trilogy. Sure it's not the same and there are issues with them, but they're really fun to me
I just wish a streaming platform had the rights to all three
I've never been big on Star Trek myself, but I really liked the new trilogy. It can be had for under $20 on Amazon so I went ahead and just bought the blu ray trilogy that way.

i never read the books and watched all eight movies last summer. they get better as they go, IMO. the first one especially was really immature feeling, like the target audience was 12. they get more mature as they progress and effectively better IMO.

The first three were decent movies. Can't remember if the fourth or fifth were any good. The last book I read was the fifth one, and so I never had any interest in watching any of the movies after that point.

Even though I was the target demographic at the time I lost interest after the first which I enjoyed, but saw the prisoner of azkaban which was boring, and the final 2 films at release that were meh in my opinion.

Never read the books.

Honestly I don't think they are. The first few are okay but they just turn into a slog once you get passed the fourth one. The last few movies are so dreary and dark and completely devoid of charm, they're just a drag to watch IMO
