At this point it feels like they're intentionally trying to tank the company. People are already making fun of them for their thousand-dollar monitor stands and $700 desktop wheels, but the latest version of iOS also broke shit ton of things and with their move to a proprietary chip set they're going to lose a ton of third-party and legacy support.

this is a weird tech trend though. The assumption that everyone just has a spare brick or should be ok using one for multiple items. Sony and Nintendo do it as well. Its stupid.

edit: though I guess with phones pushing for induction now it makes sense from a trend standpoint.

Most people who buy iPhones get the newest model after a few months to a year after they purchase the model they currently own. Ive had three versions of iPhones (4s, 7 and 11) and each has has a different port to plug in earphones and chargers, I personally dont need anymore accessories each time I buy a new phone.

I should be able to use the previous iteration of accessories or plug it into a usb port to charge my device of which I already own a ton of usb cables from different products I previously purchased.

apple sucks I got this ipod thing it works well but the battery discharges in like 5 days even with airplane mode on if it's not plugged in charging.

That's just a scam to run the battery through extra charge cycles to kill it faster. At that point you're screwed cause you damn sure won't be taking it apart yourself and changing the battery.

But it's still not as bad as fucking Nintendo including no charger at all. Shit cost them like $1 to make. With this, you do get the Lightning to USB-C cable, so it can still be plugged in so many places and doesn't just outright leave you with no way to charge.

The worst thing was how many people defended Nintendo.

You dont have a USB-C to lightning fast charging which only came with 11-Pro/Max. So yeah you will have to purchase more accessories

In Japan, starting with the 3DS XL, they stopped including a charger citing that you probably already have one from the DS or the regular 3DS.

Elsewhere, all New 3DS models had no charger citing the same thing. That you probably already have one. Then it was leaked that it cost them around $1.18 to make.

People still defended it.

the 3DS and anything that uses a standard USB, like the classic series, didn't come with chargers. (Or power adapters in the case of the Classic)

There is no reason to remove the charger or the ear buds beyond greed being the reason.

Most people in 2020 use some sort of wireless earbuds, theres very little use for a dedicated earphone jack.

I havent taken the wall brick or headphones out of the box for my last 3 phones though so I dont reallly care if they stop including them. Sucks for people who lose their wall adapters frequently or are late adopters to wireless though.

As someone who plays rhythm games on a tablet, wireless earbuds are inferior simply by introducing additional audio latency. Im dreading the day that all ports are removed and Im forced to deal with it.

The earbuds sucked from both a comfort and sound quality perspective and I certainly won't miss them. They only plug into the lightning port so not like you can repurpose them to any other device besides iphone/ipad. They're also not essential to the functioning of the device.

Not including a charger adapter is a little more dubious since charging the thing is essential to its function but at least it will have the cable. I have a hard time believing anyone is going to buy a new iphone when they don't own any other devices with a USB port to plug it into.
