That level of sophistication is going to be far behind what we'll have for quite some time, though. We'd have to sequence the DNA basically from scratch, and then create the physical molecule. while both those things are probably theoretically possible, it seems pretty unlikely. Even within the context of the novels & films, human sabotage was needed to make shit go awry. Then most of the shit that went bad could have gone bad if it had happened in a normal zoo since animals running wild are dangerous regardless.
