me and my fiancee agree its a dumb idea. who cares about the sex of a baby. what, are you going to be disappointed if its a boy or a girl? get out of here. they only exist because rich people want to have dumb parties.

i told her id only do it if at the reveal i get to say "The sex of the baby is... it is... its...IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT THE SEX OF THE BABY IS!"
and rock bottom her sister or something.

Not just rich people do it

It's just a way for people to celebrate a happy moment in their lives with their close ones. It's ok to dislike the idea or think that it's tacky, but there's nothing wrong with people who do it responsibly if it makes them happy

Just a way to celebrate a milestone of the pregnancy. For some people, the whole thing is a pretty constant series of events and firsts.

It was a powder coated puck. Probably one of the soft rubber ones, as opposed to a real puck.

Usually the parents will find a way to reveal the gender of the baby without knowing, and everyone at the party (including the parents) find out the gender at the same time.

For example my brother and his wife, had cupcakes baked with either blue or pink frosting on the inside of the cupcake. Basically my sister in law's mother was the one who knew the gender from the doctor, told the bakery what kind of frosting to make. So then everyone at the party bites into a cupcake at the same time and sees what color the inside of the cupcake is, and everyone finds out whether its a boy or girl at the same time

There are all kinds of different variations that people do. Sometimes it releasing different colored balloons from a cardboard box, or lighting smoke bombs in a certain color, many different ways
