I remember somewhat in Cyberstorm you can take considerable subsystem damage to things like sensors, actuators, your ECM suites, life support, and such

I don't think the genre is large enough to look for something with such specificity.

I know the Earthsiege games were all about it, maybe that just what their entire appeal was

Watched a play-through of the vanilla game, from what I remember it's not bad gameplay wise as it's based on the tabletop game but the story is predicable and AI is useless as it relies on numbers to beat you rather than making smart moves and this is further reinforced by forcing you to use 4 mechs at a time so you're always stuck picking heavys or assaults otherwise you get overwhelmed.

From a little research basically everything is solved if you install the RogueTech mod which overhauls the game and turns it into a rougelike so it has unlimited replayability.

I remember Armored Core had a bunch of shit that could take damage, and you had to pay for repairs after missions. Hell you had to pay for any ammo you used too.

I wish they'd make Armored Souls

It's weird how Souls games have such great level design and Armored Core is just "shoot these robots in this warehouse I guess."

Currently playing it and it is amazing. I did the career mode in vanilla first and I enjoyed it. Playing through career using battletech extended, bigger drops, and mission control mods. I can get up to 8 mechs and the game has a lot more things in it while staying true to the vanilla gameplay roguetech is cool too but I feel it adds too much and you need a beefy computer to play it. I am planning on doing a roguetech career. But right now I feel extended is what the base game should have been.
