Ghost Story was my least favorite

I enjoyed Ghost Story but I guess my expectations were tempered. My least favorite after the first two is probably Blood Rites.

I really like Ghost Story but I'd probably still agree it's among the least good. It's just that most of the others are so, so great.

The end does have one of my favorite scenes in the series though so there's that.

I was looking up a character on the wiki a few days ago because I couldn't remember which book something happened in, and I saw a Peace Talks section for them. So be careful of that too.

Another question, as of the end of Skin Game Amoracchius still has no wielder, right? I know Michael picked it back up for the heist but that was temporary.

Got my Audible version pre-ordered, and I'll be starting up my re-listen of Skin Game tonight.

I've got about 1/4 of Changes left so I should be at least halfway through Ghost Story by the end of the day.

Wait what? He's got the next book after Peace Talks already ready to go in September? That would be pretty cool after that long wait.

Hell yeah! As a result I'm expecting one hell of a cliffhanger in Peace Talks but we'll see.

From what I understand, Peace Talks was originally one giant book, so Jim split apart the A and B plots and rewrote them as separate books. It will be interesting to see how that works out.

I read that before the split, the book was 400,000 words long. That's the size of a Stormlight Archive or ASoIaF book, which is insane to think about.

I'm pretty sure it was supposed to be Nicodemus' Fallen Anduriel who works via shadows. Uriel points to the shadow on the wall and notes that it was off.

Near the end of Cold Days

Gonna make it and still have free time this weekend, yay

I'm only on Small Favour, so I think I can safely say I got zero chance of being done for Tuesday. Not that it bothers me.

Yeah Im still on changes lol. Will finish it up today though.
Im still going into work and watch some tv with my wife when Im home so I only have an hour or so a day to read.

Yeah, Changes is my new #1. It was excellent. Page turner, cinematic, and some major plot progression for the entire series.

Do have a question though. What was up with the mortal assassin that Susan had try to kill Harry at the church? Never got explained.

It actually did kinda get explained, Harry assumed that Esmeralda (of the Eebs) made the guy think Susan hired him. Kind of a reversal or something of the trope where the bad guys manipulate the good guys into not trusting each other

Man my memory of Skin Game is so fuzzy. The only stuff from the second half that I remember from my first read is Jedi Butters, Harry meeting Maggie near the end, and Nick having to kill his daughter and Harry using that to piss him off

I tapped out in the first one. They come highly recommended so I'm probably going to take another crack at them whenever the library opens again.

I would read/watch a recap of the first two books if you couldn't even get past Storm Front, Fool moon isn't going to grab you that well either. IMO the series starts getting real good at Grave Peril.

The first one is by far the worst. The second one is a little better but still has some of the same issues, such as the lack of supporting cast and the ones that are there not being quite right yet.

Yeah I read the recap on wiki and it alluded to that, I guess I just missed it. That makes sense, thanks.

Already over a quarter through Ghost story. Cool premise but it def belonged after book 3 (at least thats how I feel right now)

I think his writing improves a lot then and the characters become much more tolerable and the fantasy world becomes much more expanded upon which was gravely missing from the first two books.

I agree with this. If I hadn't bought several at the same time and been told over and over it gets better, I would have given up on the series.

As others have said the first two are dog shit. I wouldn't even bother reading a recap of them, the books do a good enough job of explaining any important details that happened in previous books. The third book "Grave Peril", and the seventh book "Dead Beat" are both better places to start then the first two. If you really get into the series go back and read the ones you missed. If you don't like either Grave Peril or Dead Beat you probably won't like the series.

Just finished Zoo Day which means I've now read everything up to Peace Talks! And man, Zoo Day had a lot going on, between Maggie and Harry finally spending time together which was adorable, and the implication that the Black Council, possibly Cowl and Kumori, were behind the theft of Mouse and his siblings, and they managed to keep two of them

I think that's a good guess but it would IMO rely on Ebenezar being Black Council and knowing who Thomas was, or otherwise it's one hell of a coincidence. Also hard to make any other guesses considering how Thomas couldn't speak after it happened
