They're asking that they stop being disproportionately be arrested and killed by a corrupt police system.

All of this other stuff is either companies trying to placate the black community, feign alliance with black Americans, or fallout from a centuries-long history of oppression.

I personally don't care about the looting, the statues, or whatever Kendall Jenner is going to advertise for next. I agree that we need radical police reform that involved defunding, dismantling, and rebuilding the system.

Should the confederacy be celebrated? no.

But those things aren't the immediate danger to black people in America. Law enforcement is, among other things.

I'd say it's situations where police are called on black folks for no reason. Or it's electing officials that don't help/make matters worse by stoking the fires already burning.

Conservatives know this. They simply see demands for justice as a de facto descent into pure chaos, with Aunt Jemima branding and statues of Hitler von Klanenstein as the woeful first victims of a slippery slope. It doesn't occur to them that the state should bend the knee to the people and stop being so tolerant of racism because, to them, democracy is just not natural.
