And the CBA is ending after the 2021 season. Any sign of weakness by either side will be pounced on for those negotiations. MLBPA is also one of, if not the #1, the strongest unions in NA pro sports.

To be fair, the NFLPA has the problem that the average NFL career is relatively brief(and, compared to baseball, not very lucrative), making the potential sacrifice of losing a year huge to most players.
But yeah, the NFLPA is weak even controlling for that, I'm glad the MLBPA isn't going to let the owners jerk the players around on a whim.

they already agreed to 50 games full prorated, that's why the commissioner can still implement a season. Owners wanted to add ads to jerseys and increase the playoffs so they made more money and asked the players to give up their right to file a grieveane. Which they would have for an 80 game season and went down to a 70 game season, but the owners want all these extra revenue streams and to keep their books closes and to ensure the players can't go after them, for 10 games.

The MLBPA is 100% in the right.

The biggest thing in all of the discussions, imo, is that the owners have cried about huge losses and literally only 1 team has open books (Atlanta, because theyre owned by Liberty and are forced to have open books).

Owners refuse to show the players association any evidence of all the losses theyll accumulate and how theyre so hard for money.

Also the owners just voted to enforce the March agreement.

american league and national league teams play the other teams in their conference 4 times.
best teams from each league plays against one another in the world series.

would be amazing. no throwaway games since every game counts.

MLB imposed the March agreement and I think for 60 games. Players have to respond by 5pm tomorrow if they can report by July 1st and sign off on the health/safety protocols.

iirc, one of the DH/expanded playoffs is a part of one of the next two seasons because they already agreed to it. The rest were part of the mini-CBA like negotiations.

But AL baseball and NL baseball require different strategies, and once you get to the World Series you better be good at both.

It lengthens the life span of the average player and it allows you to keep someone in the lineup while giving them a day off from the field.

Also a lot of people hate interleague play but I like it because it a) allows both leagues to play games in the other league's style before the World Series and b) allows for diverse matchups and more rivalries.

Yeah I prefer how it is currently, but it ultimately won't be a huge loss once the DH is implemented permanently in the NL. All NL teams will be better with a DH than without, so that's something that I think is good at least.

NL develops less hitters too because of the shit rule.

Not that the pirates are any good at that but if we were able to get some hitters more consistent bats they might develop and get better instead of being in pinch hit hell every other game

I know that feeling. My favorite Cardinal of the past decade would probably still be on the team today if the NL had the DH. Matt Adams was always that guy who got plenty of pinch-hit appearances and always hit well in his limited playing time with the team, but they just never found a place for him in the lineup and his defense was never great. He could have turned into a consistent 30-35 homers a season kind of guy if he could have gotten a few full seasons of at-bats as a DH instead of constantly going in and out of the lineup.

I watch the Yankees and Mets about equally. The Mets are a bit of an outlier compared to other NL teams since they actually do have decent hitting pitchers, but I just like being able to watch two different styles of play. Like I said though, the NL getting the DH doesn't bother me too much. It's inevitable.
