Pat Tillman = retired from the NFL in his prime to join the military, died in service. Exactly. He chased big money and ultimately failed. Tillman sacrificed money several times for loyalty to his team and then again to his country. People talk about wanting to change policing but they never want to BE the change. They want someone else to do it for them. They can go sign up for a job in law enforcement and be the change they want. You are right. Him getting a job as a policeman would have clearly made a bigger impact. Actually I think it would have. It could have started a wave of people (without criminal records) of saying "Colin Kaepernick is really trying to make that change happen, I will try to join the police and help make a change." It could have been quite inspirational and he would have garnered much more respect. The thing with throwing money at the problem is not everyone has money they can just throw away like that but joining the police was a tangible thing others could have done. --- Gears of War 1 Assassination Legend ... Pat Tillman is a rare example of a man who achieved his dream and gave it up in service of something greater than himself. He was a true hero and the manner of his death is a horrid tragedy. It's sad that had to be so horrible that it distracts from what he did while he was alive, in service to a country that he loved even if it wasn't always doing what he agreed with.
