Ive never played ANY of the Dead Space games.

Should I? Which one is worth it? Whats the appeal? Any upgrading of armor or weapons?

First game is a solid survival horror experience. Only recommend if you're comfortable playing with a controller though, the pc controls are awful.

Third game is a silly co-op romp with a cool weapon crafting system. The story is nonsense and all pretense of horror is gone, so don't expect anything on that front.

Second game is comparable to the first but not as good. Play it after the first game if you want more of the same.

I rather enjoy the first one... I don't care for survival horror, but it's a worthy exploration and treasure game where you just search for things in an atmospheric environment

They don't have crafting, but there is an upgrade system for weapons and equipment. It's not very interesting though, you just pick your favorite gun and max it out.

I would say 1 & 2. But I've only played 2 & 3. 2 was pretty fun. I didn't get very far in three. Maybe multiplayer would have been more fun. I've heard 1 is pretty good...

2 is more of a direct action shooter with some horror elements

It's one of the few games I did a full Long Play of (hint hint)

All the Dead Space games are pretty much just RE4 in Space with a bit more emphasis on horror, well, okay maybe not the 3rd game.
