Just about every other kid my age I knew had an N64

one or two friends had a PS1 in their houses, but it usually belonged to an older sibling of theirs.

I had no idea the Sega Saturn even had existed until I started using the internet in the mid 00s

me. I had both. but I wasn't a kid. I was in jr high when the ps1 and saturn came out. I knew some other people who had ps1's. I never met another person besides me that had a saturn.

Second hand stores like good will made it easy for me to find all kinds of video game consoles/games and computer software.

I do remember seeing them in the store and lusting for Vectorman once, because I couldn't play it.

Oddly enough, prior to my parents getting me an N64 for Christmas in 97, the only console we had in the house was a Sega Genesis.

So it was my first experience with a video game console lol

I used to have a Saturn. Plus quite a few now rare games. I loaned it to a friend a few years back who decided one day to just drop off the grid. No cell phone, disowned his family, quit his job, Etc. I've tried to reach out a few occasions but he even changed all of his social media handles so it's effectively impossible to find him.

I know 2 of my cousins had one, just the genesis, not saturn. I don't remember anyone in school having either, but then again they were probably hiding it.

I don't know if I even knew the saturn was a thing at the time, until near the end of its run.

I had a PS1 for several years before most other people did. I didn't know anyone with a Saturn, and I never got one until after it was discontinued. I put probably 5 hours total into the console.

It was the other way round for me. I knew a couple with N64s, but many with PS1s. And virtually none with Saturns/Dreamcasts (but several with a Mega Drive).

I live in the UK though, where we have traditionally been more into Sega and later Sony.

Also, everyone and their auntie had chipped PS1s and (less so) PS2s here lol.

My friend had a Saturn I never saw him play, and I had a PS1.

Plenty of my friends had a PS1. My older cousin was the only person with a Saturn. He was super crazy about video games though and had a Super Famicom too.

I had an N64, best friend had a PS1. No one had a Saturn, or if they did they didn't admit it.

I had a PSX, other kids had a PSX, and my older cousin had a PSX.

However, two kids in my neighborhood (they were brothers), had a N64, PSX, and Sega Saturn. They had the consoles of the previous generation as well.

I, however, was the only household with a TurboGrafx-16!

My part of town was mostly poor people, including my family, so few people really had anything great. My oldest brother was friends with these twins whose family was fucking rich and they got Playstation at launch. I remember them making a huge deal about it and my brother wanting to go play but he was grounded for smoking weed.

The way they were talking about it, I thought it was like some kind of elaborate entertainment center thing decked out with video games, TV, stereo, etc. I think that was influenced by one of those giveaway ads in magazines. When I finally saw one, I was like "oh, that's it?"

By 97, it seemed like most people had one. I didn't play one until 98 or own one until 99. I had the vastly superior Nintendo 64 and only got one so I could play WWF Smackdown! 2: Know Your Role. It was garbage and I regret getting it because WWF No Mercy is the greatest NA wrestling game out there. Also, Goldeneye.

New quite a few people with ps1s. a cousin had a Saturn but we only played it once. He only had the shitty common games. Saturn has become my favorite console of that generation after the fact, Ive got 3 saturns now.

My cousin had a Saturn which I played the heck out of when I watched his apartment, mostly the NHL game he had. Then I got one of my own because the store I went to didn't have any PS1s. It was alright, had Virtua Fighter 2, as well as near arcade perfect ports of Street Fighter Alpha 1 and 2 and the two WWE games.

I got a PS1 a few months later with FF7 and really never went back to the Saturn.
