Louisville, Kentucky, Mayor Greg Fischer is initiating termination procedures against Louisville Metro Police Officer Brett Hankison, an officer involved in the killing of Breonna Taylor, the mayor said in a statement without providing any additional details.

Unfortunately, due to a provision in state law that I very much would like to see changed, both the Chief and I are precluded from talking about what brought us to this moment, or even the timing of this decision, the mayor said

Taylor was killed after officers forced their way inside her home and exchanged shots with her boyfriend just before 1 a.m. on March 13.

2. The boyfriend was well within his self-defense rights

4 they were looking for someone already in custody

They busted into the wrong house with guns drawn, did not identify themselves, then shot back and killed an innocent person when the homeowner returned fire thinking they were intruders....and the killer just gets fired. Meanwhile, the boyfriend who was most literally standing his ground (as 2nd amendment folks and the NRA love to say) was arrested and charged immediately. (speaking of has the NRA commented on this, yet?)

and there are people perfectly fine with this system...ok.

Like were they not involved with the investigation and just handed a warrant and told "We think this is a drug dealers house, go in and execute this no knock warrant"? Or were they the same officers who did the investigating, went to the judge and asked for the no knock warrant, and knew exactly what they were getting into?

detectives and cops are separate. i would assume any cop on the raid was just doing it as part of his job that shift.

This is the biggest what the fuck about this situation. Don't they radio in everything? Isn't there constant communication? NO ONE knew that the fucking person was in custody already? The chief of that precinct should be fired and removed also for a terrible lapse of communication and complete unprofessionalism and stupidity. The officers ignorance to the fact that the person was already in custody goes up the chain of command. They should have never been there to begin with.
