Yes. I think people have been using it wrong for years. It's part spiritual guide-book, yes but it's also a book of crazy spells. Books that compose the bible basically rub out the name of the old gods and write in the christian/catholic/Judaic god in it's stead.

Ive been thinking about the Bible a lot lately. Im agnostic, and have never been religious.

But, I think the Bible actually did a lot of good for humanity. Im not sure humans would have developed the way we did without it.

Look at how quickly humans destroy, murder, and steal when theres no enforcement of laws. Back during biblical times, laws in society were not nearly as laid out, and people stole/raped/pillaged all the time and could get away with it.

The Bible was written to civilize mankind, and it worked. But, now that we have created governments with accountability, the Bible is obsolete.

I disagree. There are far too many people who twist the word of the bible into a scam to buy them a super church or private jet.

I work with recovering addicts and I see how the bible helps them deal with recovery but they're also abusing the teachings of the bible like they would any other drug.

I don't think the bible is a force of good or evil. But it is powerful nonetheless.

I agree. Im just saying, I think the original purpose of creating the Bible was to create peace and rules for society.

The side effects definitely have hurt a lot too. Wonder what the world would be like if the Bible was never written?

Considering it was Christianity that unified much of Europe after rome fell, was the nest for western science and humanism to come about, kinda hard to say.

Everybody just assumes after Rome fell and Europe was in total chaos, we would magically all become some unified atheist front and be running around with sports cars and iPods a thousand years before.

laws existed before the bible and existed outside of the abrahamic world

These people care more about their cause and not the company the keep. They couldn't even tell you the church banned the bible at one point
